Overview

Objective

The main objective for this project update the visual design for the homepage so it clearly defines the benefits of faces2hire and the main objective for a user...to build a profile.

Thoughts & Feelings

There was a lot of pressure on me being the only ux designer in the company. I had to design, educate, and be a representative for the user all while developing a design plan to implement going forward.

Teamed up with a developer I was excited to take on the challenge and build something great.

About The Company

faces2hire is a privately funded start-up based out of Tampa, Florida. They've developed a job seeking platform that allows users to create a 5 minute highlight video that will serve as in introduction to their profile.

The company aims to humanize the job seeking process and create an alternate way to represent yourself to employers. Users can search millions of job for free. Employers can also sign up and post jobs for free.

Another caveat to f2h is that they leverage applicant tracking software (ATS). This allows job seekers to be easily found by future employers

The Problem

faces2hire was allowing potential users to search for a job before they had even signed up and created a profile, taking away from faces2hire's growth. Once users had selected a company they wanted to apply for, they were hit with a modal that told them to create an account.

Because of this, users expectations were not met and caused the bounce rate to spike.  The company needed to show sign ups and active users to receive another round of funding.

Additionally, their landing page didn't invoke trust. Most of the content was repeated unnecessarily and came across "salesy". The faces2hire website was also not mobile responsive.

The Solution

I created a landing page that clearly defines the benefits of faces2hire, what makes them different and the reasons to sign up to create a profile.

Tenets for this design

  • Invoke Trust

  • Make it easy

  • Tell a story

The Compeitors

Looking at other companies landing pages, I determined grouping, content, and navigation were important. I noticed that these pages weren't copy heavy and used it only when needed. These companies were minimalistic.
